Renovation of Charlie's Place

In support of their Responsible Business Goals, McLarens Loss Adjusters and teams from their adjacency companies, including Brawdia Building Surveyors, offered to give up their time to renovate Charlie's Place for us.

Over the summer holidays and the first week of the new school term members of their teams, along with some of the contractors they work with from Edgemont Projects Ltd and Pro Active FM Ltd offered up many hours of their time and resources to carry out the transformation.

Amongst other things, this included the removal of an old climbing net, the installation of new fencing and the huge job of sanding all of the tired looking timber play spaces in there.

After sanding everything down, the volunteers treated all the woodwork for us to help to make sure it lasts. Our team of energetic Year 1 and Year 2 ECO Warriors joined the workers to help with this, as did one of our governors, Sue Maitland.

Everyone did a fabulous job. So much so that on the final day Mrs Fairclough and our Year 1 choir treated the volunteers to a performance of some of their favourite songs.

The final result was a phenomenal transformation and we are so grateful to all of the people involved in this project. The work they have done has made a real difference to this area and the children will get so much more out of playing in there now.

A particular shout out must be awarded to Colin, Neil and Mark from Edgemont Projects for their upcycling of our beloved Gruffalo.

Also to Phil and Jordan from Brawdia Building Surveyors for managing this project for us.
