Nawa Asha Griha – Home of New Hopes

Wellfield Infant and Nursery School has established a partnership with a school for street children attached to an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is called "Nawa Asha Griha", (NAG), which means the Home of New Hopes. Mrs Ann Preston, a friend of Miss Graham's, has been visiting NAG for around 20 years, providing much needed resources, training for teachers and other support.

For more information about NAG go to their website

https://www.nagnepal.com/en/

Mrs Preston regularly visits us to talk to the children about Nawa Asha Griha in our assemblies. The children are always very interested to hear about the difficult lives children lead in this impoverished area. Ann has helped to find us a child to sponsor at NAG, (see below).

Introducing Mukti

Mukti is one of the children who lives at Nawa Asha Griha. The staff there first knew Mukti as a baby when she was homeless and living under a flyover with her mother. Mukti was eventually left at NAG when she was two years old and has been cared for there ever since. More recently her sister has also arrived there. We have now been sponsoring Mukti for several years - look how she's grown!

Our sponsorship helps to ensure that Mukti remains at NAG where she will be kept safe, be well fed and receive an education. We do several fundraising activities throughout the year to fund Mukti's sponsorship.

The children at Nawa Asha Griha have made a video to say thank you to all their sponsors. Miss Graham has put a link to their "Happy" video at the bottom of this page. Can you spot Mukti in it?
