PTA MEETING MINUTES 20TH JUNE 2023

The Wellfield Infant and Nursery PTA are a very friendly bunch of parents, carers, teachers and school staff who join together to organise fund raising activities to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's main income – often 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting.

The PTA committee is made up of a Chair, a Secretary and Treasurer.  The PTA members, Miss Graham and school staff decide how to spend PTA funds. Common items include subsidy for the coaches for school trips, playground equipment, ipads and smaller purchases such as presents for Father Christmas to distribute, or lights for a Diwali celebration.

GET INVOLVED!

There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or just an hour or two.  If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (eg running a stall at the summer fair, baking for a cake sale, helping at the discos). And you can always support PTA events by simply turning up to the events we hold.

If you are interested in joining the PTA or helping at one of the upcoming events, please contact any of the committee members direct, email us at WINSPTA@GMAIL.COM or speak to the School office.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Our main projects that have been funded by the PTA Fundraising events have been developments to the school grounds.

This year they are helping us to raise funds for a veranda which is being erected along the side of our Reception classroom. This much needed shelter will allow us more flexibility to use the outdoor space in all weathers and it will enable us to leave some of our outdoor resources out all the time.

Last year our PTA helped to fund our amazing outdoor classroom. This fantastic space sits alongside our Forest School area and is used by both the infant and junior schools. Both schools contributed some of the funds towards this project and our PTA helped to raise the remaining £10,000.

In the past few years the PTA have helped to fund our Daily Mile path around the field, the playground equipment for our Year One and Year Two children and they also helped to pay for our exploration area  - this area is named "Charlie's Place" in memory of Mr Charles Pratley, former Chair of Governors.

For the last few years the PTA has also helped to subsidise the cost of the coaches for our school trips and they have funded transport for the choir to attend events. They have also funded special experiences for the children in school such as a Planetarium experience for the Year Two children and a visit from some birds of prey for Reception.
