ADMISSIONS - GENERAL INFORMATION

NURSERY ADMISSIONS

We manage our own admissions for Nursery places. Parents and Carers are welcome to put in an expression of interest for a Nursery place for their child at any time. Children are eligible to attend the Nursery from the term after their third birthday and can join us in January providing we have spaces available, with most children joining us in September.

Each year at the start of February we make contact with anyone who has put their child's name down and whose child will have reached their third birthday before 31st August. Parents and carers are then sent a link to our online admissions form and given a deadline of when the applications need to be in by. We offer full time and part time places in our Nursery and can generally meet all requests made. For further information about our admissions shortlisting criteria please see our admissions policy.

In year Nursery applications are dependent on spaces still available and can be requested by calling the school office.

RECEPTION ADMISSIONS

Reception admissions are managed by Trafford Council's School Admissions Department. The application window for each September opens from mid October of the year before and closes in mid January.

Children are admitted into the Reception class in the academic year in which they attain their fifth birthday. Admissions are administered under the Trafford Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme and parents are required to create a login in and complete a Trafford Primary Application . The link to the Trafford Primary Admissions page is here:-

Parents should indicate their schools in order of preference. This means you should put your favourite school first, your next favourite school second and so on through your preferences. It is best if parents include a 'catchment' school. Trafford will allocate a place at the school you have ranked highest where a place can be offered. This means that if your first choice is Wellfield Infant and Nursery School and there are enough places available to offer you a place you will be offered Wellfield Infants. Where  unable to offer a place, Trafford will seek to offer a place at one of your other schools as indicated on the application form. The Published Admission Number (PAN) for Reception to Year two at our school is 60 children/ year group.

IN YEAR APPLICATIONS FOR A SCHOOL PLACE (OTHER THAN NURSERY)

An ‘in-year’ transfer is when a child transfers from one school to another, during the academic year.

Trafford is the admission authority for all Trafford community and voluntary controlled schools.
