Wellfield Infant and Nursery School

WInspire and Nurture Success

Wellfield Infant and Nursery School is a two form entry school for children from 3 to 7 years old.

We have a 52 place Nursery, with separate morning and afternoon classes. Each morning or afternoon session is for three hours and children are offered places for either five mornings or five afternoons. These five sessions are funded by the local authority.

We also offer full time or additional sessions - for parents eligible for 30 hours funding, full time places are available at a cost of £15 a week; or additional "top up" sessions to some full days are covered by the 30 hours funding for those eligible.

For parents not eligible for 30 hours funding, additional "top up" sessions are available at a cost of £16 per day or £80 per week for a full time place.

Nursery admissions are managed by the school. To register for a place or request an admission pack please contact the school office.

In each of our Reception, Year One and Year Two year groups we provide for 60 pupils - the places are shared between two classes, both of which share an open plan learning environment. Enquiries for places for these year groups are made via school admissions at Trafford Council.

In addition to our mainstream classes at Wellfield we have a Small Specialist Class for eight pupils. This class is for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social Communication Disorders who have a statement of Special Educational Needs. The class includes pupils from Reception through to Year Two.

Trafford's Small Specialist Classes (SSC) in Primary, Junior and Infant schools have been created to offer opportunities for pupils' additional needs to be  met within a mainstream school environment.

There is a specialist teacher assigned to the class. The rest of the team in the SSC is currently made up of three experienced SEN teaching assistants - one full time and two part time.

Pupils from the SSC often spend time in the mainstream classes in the school when they show themselves able to cope with the social and educational demands of this provision and pupils from the SSC are fully integrated into the general life of the school.

Admissions for the SSC are managed by the SEN panel at Trafford Council. If you would like to make an enquiry, the relevant contact details can be given to you by our school office.
