We Inspire and Nurture Success

Eco Warriors

Our ECO Warriors are made up of pupils from each class from Reception to Year Two. Mrs Douglas is our ECO Warriors Leader and she carries out this role with the help of Miss Graham, (Headteacher), and Mr Armstrong, (Site Manager).

In the summer term our ECO Warriors worked with our School Council members on an ECO project to encourage pupils and staff to reduce the amount of plastic they use and recycle more of their waste. They met with the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Tom Ross, and Cllr Andrew Western, Leader of Trafford Council, to discuss this work and find out what the council were doing to reduce the amount of plastic being used in the town hall. In the autumn term the children will be visiting the town hall to see how this work is going.

We have recently managed to secure a grant of £8000 from TESCO's Bags of Help scheme to build a growing area with some raised beds. This area will allow us to grow vegetables to use in the school kitchen. Our ECO Warriors will be working with some of the pupils from Wellfield Junior School to help us with our allotment.

The Groundwork team helped us to complete our bid and to plan our growing area. They visited both schools to deliver workshops with our ECO Warriors. Despite the pouring rain the children helped to measure the outdoor space as well as discuss their ideas for our new development.
