Welcome
WINS - "WE INSPIRE AND NURTURE SUCCESS"
As the Headteacher here at Wellfield Infant and Nursery school I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our of children and their parents and carers. I am now in my tenth year as Headteacher at Wellfield and I feel very honoured to be part of this lovely school.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our school motto is "We Inspire and Nurture Success". This motto illustrates our whole school ethos. We strive to provide the best level of care and support for all children and provide an exciting learning environment which promotes learning and collaboration - between pupils and staff and between pupils and their peers as well as collaboration between the staff themselves. In addition to this, staff strive to continuously develop their practice and deliver outstanding teaching so that all pupils achieve their full potential.
The school maintained it's grading of Outstanding in it's last Ofsted inspection which took place in March 2023. In the report Ofsted stated:- Pupils flourish at Wellfield Infant and Nursery School. Pupils, including those in the specially resourced provision for pupils with SEND (specially resourced provision), engage in purposeful learning activities. As a result, they achieve well in a range of subjects. Children in early years are exceptionally well prepared for key stage 1, while pupils in Year 2 are equipped for the transition to junior school equally well.

Our skilled team of staff are dedicated to ensuring that all of our pupils are offered the best start possible and we encourage our parents and carers to work in partnership with us to support their child's education and development. We have developed a wide range of workshops for our parents and carers which we deliver throughout the year. These offer a deeper insight into the teaching and learning going on in the school and provide ideas for supporting children's learning at home. More information about the workshops can be found in the Parents section of our website.
Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We feel it is important that mutual understanding and trust should be the basis of our shared responsibility and therefore we operate an "open door" policy at Wellfield, where you are encouraged to come into school at any reasonable time and see at first hand the learning opportunities we provide for all our children. All our parents and carers are invited to come along to our "Stay and Play" taster sessions each year. These sessions offer the opportunity to join the children for lunch and spend the afternoon doing activities together in the classrooms and are always very popular!
