📚✨ STARTING PRIMARY SCHOOL – SEPTEMBER 2026 ✨📚

â„šī¸ IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS â„šī¸

👧🧒 Children in Trafford are eligible to start school in the September before their 5th birthday. If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, and you wish to apply for a place in any state funded primary school or academy, you must make your application to Trafford.

đŸ—“ī¸ The closing date for applications is 15 January 2026.

đŸ’ģ You should apply online at:

âš ī¸ It is important that you apply on time because any application received after 15 January 2026 will only be considered after all other on-time applications have been allocated, and it may be the case that all the places at the school/s of your choice will have already been taken.

🏡 If you are not a Trafford resident, you must contact your home authority and request their application form.

📧 If you require further help or information, please email school.admissions@trafford.gov.uk

OUR SMALL SPECIALIST CLASS
In addition to our mainstream classes at Wellfield we also have a Small Specialist Class for eight pupils.

This class is for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/ or Social Communication Disorder who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). The class includes pupils from Reception through to Year Two.

There is a specialist teacher assigned to our SSC, and the wider team in the SSC is currently made up of three experienced SEN teaching assistants - one full time and two part time.

Pupils from the SSC often spend time in the mainstream classes in the school. They all have individualised timetables for their integration into the mainstream provision and these are reviewed regularly. Pupils from the SSC are fully integrated into the general life of the school.

Admissions for the SSC are managed by the SEN panel at Trafford Council. If you would like to make an enquiry, the relevant contact details can be given to you by our school office.

To take a look at our school in action please take a look at the Gallery and Year Group pages in the "Children" section of our website.

NURSERY INFORMATION

Our wonderful Nursery offers 52 places in mornings sessions, afternoon sessions or all day.

Please note our Nursery admissions are managed by the school and not Trafford Council.

All parents of three- and four-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours of flexible nursery provision each week free of charge. For families who wish to access additional hours beyond the free 15 hr entitlement, we offer flexible top up sessions for a small charge. For the 2026/2027 academic year, these additional sessions cost £18 per session from September 2026.

Up to 30 hours funded hours are available for qualifying families, this is slightly less than a full school week of 32.5 hours (as a full school day is 6 hours 25 minutes). For families who wish their child to attend full-time, the cost for the additional time is £19 per week (£3.80 per day) from September 2026.

Nursery forms to be completed

Please ensure you complete a nursery admissions form and a parent declaration form, both found below.

Under new guidance all parents looking to accept a nursery place for their child have to complete this form. A parental declaration form is an agreement between parents and their chosen provider or providers in respect of receiving the early years entitlements. As set out in the Early education and childcare statutory guidance for local authorities, local authorities should ensure providers complete a parental declaration with the parent before a child first takes up an entitlements place.

Parent declaration forms must be submitted by the last week of the term prior to a child starting within our nursery.

To register for a place, request an admission pack, to enquire about availability, or to be added to our Nursery waiting list, please call or email admin@wellfieldinfants.com. Thank you
